Chocolate dipped pretzels are a fast and easy no bake treat. Great for a kid-friendly kitchen activity, these sweet and salty snacks are simple to make for young cooks, and are perfect for sharing with family and friends.

These chocolate dipped pretzels are my favorite sweet and salty treat right now. And they are impossibly easy to make!

This is a great kid-friendly recipe that the whole family can enjoy. Young kitchen helpers will love dipping the pretzels in chocolate and topping them with sprinkles!

Equipment You Need:

  • Baking tray or cookie sheet (for laying out the dipped pretzels – I promise these are no bake!)
  • Wax paper
  • Mugs or microwave safe bowls
  • Melting chocolate
  • Pretzel rods
  • Spoons
  • Sprinkles

These dipped pretzels are super simple to make – just melt chocolate, dip in the pretzels, then decorate with sprinkles. Finn had a blast making these for Halloween and Christmas this year.

We used both white chocolate and milk chocolate for our pretzels. I do recommend using melting chocolate and NOT chocolate chips. We tried chocolate chips once before, and while they melted nicely, the chocolate did not set on the pretzels very well and had to be stored in the fridge. For ease of use and for making a room temperature stable snack, I’d say stick with melting chocolates for best results.

You can top with any sprinkles you would like — I do find that smaller sprinkles stick to the chocolate a little better, but we have used larger decorative sprinkles as well. We used Halloween themed sprinkles for our Halloween pretzels – these had bigger pieces that were a little harder to bite, but still make the pretzels look fun. For these pretzels, I found a great container of six different holiday sprinkles at Target, which made our pretzels extra sparkly.

Once you dip and decorate, just place the chocolate covered pretzels on a lined baking sheet until they have set – ours didn’t take long about 10-15 minutes until the chocolate hardened.

How to Make Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

  • Set out a baking tray or cookie sheet and line with wax paper.
  • Measure out about 1 cup of melting chocolates into mugs or microwave safe bowls.
  • Melt chocolate in the microwave, in 30 second intervals, stirring then microwaving until melted.
  • Dip pretzel rods into the chocolate, using a spoon to drizzle chocolate along the sides and allow to drip down to the bottom.
  • Once excess chocolate has stopped dripping, place dipped pretzel rods on wax paper and top with sprinkles.
  • Repeat with remaining pretzels.
  • Allow chocolate to harden on pretzels, about 10-15 minutes before eating.

This recipe is a great start and stop recipe too – you can leave it and walk away if you need to, then pick back up where you left off by re-melting the chocolate before dipping. Perfect for busy families with lots of interruptions (I’m assuming that’s not just us???).

A bag of pretzel rods makes about 24-30 chocolate dipped pretzels – we even coat the broken pretzels with chocolate, so nothing goes to waste!

We’re planning on sharing some of our dipped pretzels this holiday season with family, which I’m sure will be a welcome treat! I found pretzel bags at Michael’s to individually wrap each chocolate covered pretzel rod – this makes sharing pretzels a breeze!

I individually wrapped a bunch of pretzels for our family, and secured each with a twist tie to keep them fresh.

These pretzels will keep for a couple of weeks in an airtight container, but they are freshest within a week or so…if they last that long in your house!!
